Vancouver & Clark County Logistics Expertise
Moving a multi-ton shipping container through SW Washington requires local knowledge of the I-5 and I-205 corridors and Clark County's diverse terrain. From the tight residential neighborhoods of downtown Vancouver to the rural acreage of Battle Ground and Ridgefield, you need a team that understands local logistical constraints.
Port Terminals & Clark County Dispatch
Many transport companies struggle with cross-river logistics and terminal coordination at the Port of Vancouver USA and Port of Portland. Shift Containers specializes in retrieving empty 20ft and 40ft units from local rail yards and port facilities, providing fast local dispatch throughout SW Washington.
We utilize commercial tilt-bed trailers that allow us to drop your container exactly where you need it—whether it's a construction site in Camas, a residential driveway in Ridgefield, or a rural farm in Washougal—all without the need for a secondary crane or forklift rental.

Vancouver Delivery FAQs
Logistics details for container transport in the Clark County area.
Can you pick up from the Port of Vancouver or Portland?
Yes. We specialty in retrieving empty containers from terminal facilities and industrial yards on both sides of the river. We manage the gate logistics and transport directly to your site.
How much space is needed for a 40ft container?
We require approximately 100 to 120 feet of unobstructed, straight-line clearance to slide a 40ft container off our trailer. The truck must have room to pull straight forward as the box slides down.
Do I need a permit for a container in Vancouver?
On private property (driveways/yards), permits are rarely needed. For placement on city streets, you should check with Vancouver's Community Development department regarding right-of-way usage.
Do you transport containers with contents?
No. For DOT safety compliance and to protect our hydraulic winch equipment, we strictly transport completely empty shipping containers.
What Clark County Says
Bought a container at the Vancouver port terminal and needed it moved to our business lot in Camas. Shift handled the pickup flawlessly. Very professional dispatch.
Navigated my tight residential driveway in downtown Vancouver perfectly. I was worried they couldn't fit the 20ft box in, but the driver was a total pro. Highly recommend.
We use Shift for all our site office moves in Ridgefield and Battle Ground. They are fast, reliable, and their tilt-bed delivery saves us thousands in rental fees.
The only company that would deliver to our rural lot in Washougal. They navigated the tight turns and dropped the container exactly on my blocks. Incredibly skilled drivers.
