Who Uses Our Container Movers?

Hauling a 5,000 to 9,000 lb steel box requires industrial equipment. We partner with a wide variety of clients across OR and WA who need reliable, damage-free relocation.

  • Residential Homeowners: Moving personal storage units during a home sale or property renovation.
  • Construction & Contractors: Relocating on-site tool cribs and material storage boxes to the next job site.
  • Agriculture & Farms: Repositioning feed and equipment containers across large acreage.
  • Commercial Retailers: Transporting excess inventory storage boxes between retail locations.

The Tilt-Bed Advantage

Unlike standard flatbed trucks that require you to hire an expensive crane or heavy-duty forklift at both the pickup and drop-off locations, our tilt-bed trailers do all the work.

Our hydraulic beds tilt backwards, allowing our powerful winches to gently slide your container directly onto the ground. This saves you thousands of dollars in secondary equipment rentals.

The Safe Delivery Protocol

To protect your property, our equipment, and comply with DOT regulations, we enforce a strict 3-point operational standard for every move.

01

The Empty Verification

For DOT weight compliance and the safety of our tilt-bed winches, your container must be 100% empty. We cannot safely tilt and slide loaded containers without causing severe cargo shift or trailer instability.

02

The Clearance Check

To safely offload, our trucks must drive straight out from underneath the container as it slides to the ground. This requires a minimum of 100 feet of unobstructed, straight-line clearance and 16 feet of vertical height.

03

The Ground-Level Drop

Once clearance is verified, our licensed drivers execute the route, winching the container down gently. We recommend placing wood blocks under the corner castings to keep your container level and dry.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about preparing your conex box for transport.

What type of equipment do you use to move containers? +

We utilize heavy-duty trucks equipped with specialized tilt-bed trailers and powerful winches. This allows us to gently slide the container directly onto the ground without the need for cranes or forklifts on site.

How much clearance is needed for a container delivery? +

Our tilt-bed trucks require a minimum of 100 feet of straight-line clearance to safely pull out from underneath the container as it is lowered. We also require at least 16 feet of vertical height clearance to avoid tree branches and power lines.

Can you move a loaded or full shipping container? +

No. For DOT compliance, weight restrictions, and the safety of our tilt-bed equipment, Shift Containers strictly transports completely empty 20ft and 40ft containers.

Do you move High Cube containers? +

Yes, we have the routing expertise and equipment to transport both Standard (8.5ft tall) and High Cube (9.5ft tall) empty storage containers across state lines.

Can you pick up a container sitting directly on the dirt? +

Yes, our heavy-duty winches can retrieve containers resting on dirt, gravel, or pavement, provided the ground is solid, relatively level, and dry enough for our trucks to gain traction without sinking.

Do I need to prepare the site before delivery? +

Yes. Ensure the drop zone is level, clear of debris, and accessible. We highly recommend placing pressure-treated wood blocks, railroad ties, or gravel pads where the four corner castings will sit to keep the container off the raw ground and prevent moisture rot.

How much does it cost to move a shipping container? +

Pricing depends on the size of the container (20ft vs 40ft), the total mileage from pickup to drop-off, and site accessibility. We provide fast, free, custom quotes based on your exact route when you fill out our form.

Do I need to be present for the delivery? +

We highly recommend being present for the initial drop-off to ensure exact placement. If you cannot be there, we require explicit instructions and physical markers (like cones or flags) indicating exactly where the doors should face.
